Miami-Cass REMC sponsored Cassandra Duckwall to attend the annual Touchstone Energy Camp. The camp was held in June at YMCA Camp Tecumseh in Brookston.
Students entering seventh grade this fall were eligible to attend. Applications were anonymously judged by local community members who selected the participants of the three-day program. Campers enjoyed traditional outdoor camp activities, such as horseback riding, zip lining, lake activities, campfires, and rock climbing. In addition to these activities, campers learned about the environment, electrical safety practices and the cooperative business model. Each camper also constructed a basic circuit board and learned about career opportunities at the REMCs.
“The benefits Touchstone Energy provides to both our community and cooperative are immeasurable,” said Miami-Cass REMC CEO Rob Schwartz. “We’re glad to support our youth at this camp.”
Interested students can apply for the 2019 camp early next year.
