Boone REMC prides itself on being a reliable provider of electricity. We know from the customer satisfaction survey and focus groups that we conducted in 2024 that reliability matters to you and that it is a key driver of your satisfaction with your service from Boone REMC.

Maintaining our reputation for reliability is a top priority, and we’re hard at work to ensure you have the power you need when you need it. Here’s a quick look at how we’re doing it:

  • COMPREHENSIVE INSPECTIONS: Each year, we conduct inspections of padmount transformers and utility poles to look for any issues that could pose safety concerns or cause outages, including decay or damage.
  • TARGETED EVALUATIONS: Our Engineering and Operations teams are focusing on upgrading aging electric infrastructure. In key areas, we’re converting overhead lines to underground systems, improving reliability and accessibility.
  • COPPER REPLACEMENT: We’ve reduced outdated copper conductor to just 200 miles, with plans to replace 30 more miles this year as part of an ongoing upgrade project.
  • INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS: From updating aging systems and substation equipment to adding capacity, we’re making investments for the future.
  • ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY: Remote system management and automation are enhancing our ability to monitor and respond to issues quickly in an effort to reduce outage durations.

We’re committed to building a stronger, smarter, and more reliable grid for all our members. Thank you for trusting us to power your homes and businesses!
