Right-of-way maintenance will begin later this month. The work area is shown in the darker green in the map above. It includes most all of Kankakee Valley REMC’s territory in LaPorte and St. Joseph counties, and areas north of U.S. 30 in Starke and Porter counties.

As detailed in last month’s Electric Consumer, Kankakee Valley REMC’s contractor will begin spraying this month along our rights-of-way. The work is being done by Daltons.

If you would prefer to maintain the right-of-way adjacent to your land yourself, here are three things we ask you to do:

• Post a sign on the right-of-way at each end of your property that reads “NO SPRAYING.” Make sure it’s legible and visible from the roadway.

• Make sure all the brush is removed within the site by July 17 and continues to be maintained. (If the brush is not removed, we must treat the brush).
