Each year, the cooperative hosts a meeting so member-consumers can gather as a community, hear from co-op leaders and elect fellow member-consumers to the board of directors.

Due to COVID-19, your cooperative had to create an alternative option to ensure the safety of our membership, employees, and board of directors. Co-op employees decided to put a unique spin on the traditional drive-in movie format.  

I would like to invite you to attend the annual membership meeting on Sept. 10 at the Porter County Expo Center in Valparaiso. All activities this year can be done safely from the comfort of your own vehicle. Cooperative employees will greet you at your vehicle and register you for the event. Once registered, you will be given a special registration gift and a boxed dinner provided by Birky’s Catering. Please note, we can only provide meals for those in the vehicle. 

You can take your dinner home or you are welcome to stay for a concert by 1960s tribute band 45 RPM. Enjoy the entertainment while in your vehicle or, if you bring lawn chairs, in the great outdoors (while socially distancing). We encourage you to wear a mask when moving outside of your vehicle. 

An important part of the annual meeting event is the business meeting. This year we will host the business meeting virtually on Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. During the business meeting we will announce the board of directors’ election results, draw winners for the cash prizes, give cooperative updates and allow you to ask questions through online chat. Only member-consumers who attend the event at the Porter County Expo Center and register will be eligible for the cash and bill credit drawings. You should have received a director election packet last month with instructions on how to vote in this year’s election. If you have not already voted, please take a moment to cast your vote. Online voting is available until Sept. 7. After that date, you can only vote in person at the annual meeting.
