With more than 1,230 miles of line, controlling vegetation becomes a priority for Noble REMC in the warm spring and summer months when foliage grows rapidly.

This maintenance includes spraying herbicides on power line rights-of-way, a project the REMC will soon be undertaking. 

Around mid- to late-May, Noble REMC plans to begin spraying in the southern third of the service area, which includes properties south of Baseline Road from Cedar Creek to Syracuse. The crew will also finish part of last year’s project to cover the northwest side of the service area and will be spraying north of U.S. 6, west of State Road 5.

The spraying application uses non-restricted chemicals that are scientifically designed to work on plants, not people or animals, and is considered safe by the Environmental Protection Agency when properly applied. 

Since Noble REMC instituted its right-of-way program 30 years ago, power interruptions and outages have been reduced considerably, making the system safer and more reliable for you.

If you would like to maintain the right-of-way that crosses your property in some other way, “Do Not Spray” signs are available at the Noble REMC office, but you must make sure the signs are visible and legible from the roadway and notify us of your location.
