Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you” declared the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” 

We may not know what this new year holds, or even what tomorrow will bring, but we continue to plan to build a brighter future for members of Southeastern Indiana REMC. 

We have worked relentlessly over the last three years to clear and reclaim our rights-of-way (ROW) to safely provide reliable electric service. With our five-year vegetation management plan, we look forward to a future of simply maintaining, rather than reclaiming, the ROW. This will also enable us to efficiently build a fiber network to our members. 

Members and community leaders have been hopeful that we would move forward with a fiber-to-the-home product, and forward we are going. Business owners, students, educators, and homeowners — the future is bright! 

With strong member support, we will begin in 2021 to provide SEI FIBER, a fiber-to-the-home product with speeds of a minimum of 100 Megabits per second (Mbps) up to 1 Gigabyte per second (Gbps). Pricing will start for the minimum residential service at $64.95 plus applicable taxes.

We plan to start attaching fiber to our poles in April. The project plan predicts that we will serve all our unserved members within four years. Of course, our goal is to beat the four years. Please check our website to see when we will be in your location and to sign up. 

As with most plans, there will be challenges and setbacks as well as many great opportunities. We trust this gives you hope and a future to look forward to. 2021 will be a very busy but rewarding year, and we look forward to serving your electric and broadband needs.
