The power of participation: Why PPEC members should run for the board of trustees

DISTRICTS 2, 4, AND 5 ARE UP FOR ELECTION IN 2025

Chalk drawing

In today’s world, where federal policy, power grids, and energy systems are undergoing profound changes, electric cooperatives remain vital in ensuring reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy for rural communities. Electric cooperatives like PPEC are unique — member-owned, not-for-profit organizations that depend on active member participation. One of the most impactful ways members can engage with their co-op is by running for a seat on the board of trustees.

INFLUENCING POLICY

Board members shape the cooperative’s approach to renewable energy, sustainability, and technological advancements. By serving on the board, you can advocate for clean energy solutions and policies that benefit your community and the environment.

ENSURING FAIR RATES

The board sets electric rates, directly affecting households and businesses. As a board member, you help keep rates fair while ensuring the cooperative remains financially stable.

SUPPORTING LOCAL DEVELOPMENT

Electric cooperatives often drive local economic development, such as our recent announcement to bring high-speed fiber internet to our membership and community. Board members can advocate for projects that support local infrastructure, broadband access, and job creation, making a lasting impact on their community.
