Tipmont brought its entire staff to Twin Lakes Camp on May 20 to complete community service projects.

Cooperatives around the world operate according to a core set of principles. The seventh and final principle is “concern for community.” Cooperatives work for the sustainable development of the communities we serve.

Tipmont’s second annual Community Day was held on Friday, May 20, at Twin Lakes Camp and Conference Center outside Hillsboro, Indiana.

Since 1950, Twin Lakes Camp has been serving churches with educational and spiritual activities and adventures. The camp is located on 210 acres of scenic property including forests and two private lakes.

Tipmont employees work on redecking a covered bridge.

Tipmont provided skilled labor to redeck the longest walking covered bridge east of the Mississippi River.

Tipmont’s staff completed:

  • weeding and gardening,
  • painting,
  • redecking a covered walking bridge,
  • building an equipment shed,
  • building railroad tie stairs and
  • constructing and hanging building signs.

Jon Beight, the camp’s executive director, said Tipmont’s dedicated volunteers and employees added beauty to the property.

“We are excited for our campers to see and experience the new element on the climbing tower and to enjoy a beautiful bridge,” Beight said.
