The Carnegie Players, Inc. has been awarded grants this year for sound equipment to increase the quality of its shows for the community.
Two local school programs received grants. Kankakee Valley Intermediate School PTT received funds to purchase a movie license in order to host events for students and families. Kankakee Vally School Corporation Safety Committee was awarded funds to purchase two safety bags.
The Rensselaer Volunteer Fire Department was awarded funds to assist in the site work, water supply, and foundation needed for a training tower.
Psi Iota Xi – Gamma Beta was awarded funds to purchase books for its Read-A-Book program.
Rensselaer Urban Forestry Council received a grant to purchase trees to beautify the entryways into Rensselaer and to add to the city’s tree canopy.
Saint Augustine Parish was awarded a grant to help send high school students to the National Catholic Youth Conference.
Angels Wrapped in Love received funds to purchase supplies needed to make burial gowns and buntings for premature infants.
Lastly, Sorrowful Mother Church Food Pantry was awarded funds to purchase meat for Thanksgiving meals.
