When Kankakee Valley REMC was founded 85 years ago, each member-consumer contributed an equal share to bring electricity to their homes and benefit the entire community. From the beginning, every member-consumer had an equal vote in cooperative matters, embodying the principles of equitable economic participation and democratic control. These values continue to guide us today. They are especially evident in our annual board of directors’ election.

As a cooperative member-consumer, you have a voice in our leadership. Voting in the board of directors’ election is a crucial way to participate in your cooperative. We encourage you to engage in this year’s election by casting your vote later this month.

We are again partnering with Survey and Ballot Systems, a reputable organization known for secure election processes. This year, you can vote online and in person at the Member Appreciation Day/Annual Business Meeting event.

KV REMC members with an email address on their account will receive voting instructions via email from the KV REMC Election Coordinator (noreply@directvote.net). Members without an email address will receive their instructions by mail in a special letter.

Online voting opens on Aug. 23. You can access your electronic ballot in the following ways:

  1. Log in to your SmartHub account and click the ‘Vote Now’ button.
  2. Visit KV REMC’s homepage and click the ‘Vote Now’ button to go to the voting landing page. Use the voting credentials provided in the special letter to log in to your electronic ballot.
  3. Use the link provided in the email you receive to access the KV REMC voting landing page. Use the voting credentials included in the email to log in to your ballot.

After Sept. 24, voting will only be available at the Member Appreciation Day/Annual Business Meeting event. Regardless of how you vote, all participating member-consumers will receive a $5 bill credit.

Be sure to check your September issue of Indiana Connection for more details on the exciting activities planned for this year’s event. This edition will also contain your registration card, which is your ticket to the Member Appreciation Day/Annual Business Meeting event, and how you will be entered into the drawing for some amazing prizes. All KV REMC members, including those who receive the publication by email, will receive a printed copy of the Indiana Connection magazine.
