Utility receipts tax repealed

Beginning July 1, Hoosiers no longer have to pay the utility receipts tax. This tax elimination will annually put an estimated $28.5 million back in the pockets of 1.3 million Hoosiers served by the state’s 38 electric cooperatives. Kankakee Valley REMC member-consumers alone will save an estimated 1.67% annually from the repeal of this tax. This was made possible because of the efforts of Indiana’s electric cooperatives advocating for their member-consumers and negotiating with the Indiana General Assembly to repeal the tax, ultimately saving money for each electric cooperative member-consumer across Indiana.

You will see this tax removed on the August bill for July energy use. This will be automatically removed. There is no action you need to take.
