LaGrange County REMC recently welcomed two broadband technicians to join in the effort of getting broadband internet to our members. These technicians specialize in all aspects of installing and maintaining the co-op’s fiber-optic lines.
Jason Berry was hired in January. He comes to the REMC after 15 years at AT&T, serving as a mobility technician. For Berry, the best thing about working for the REMC is getting members connected to high-speed internet service. “Getting people access to the internet that they’ve been waiting on is really gratifying,” Berry said.
Berry enjoys reading, gaming and watching movies when he’s not attending his three daughters’ show choir concerts. He and his wife of 18 years, Sunny, and the rest of the family reside in Fort Wayne.
Joseph Buta joined the team after being an installer for Mediacom for around two years. He’s enjoyed working for the co-op since starting in February. “It’s nice to have your opinion matter. We’re able to make changes to improve our processes,” Buta noted. With the REMC being new to the communications industry, there’s been a learning curve, but he’s enjoyed that challenge as well.
He’s looking forward to getting more comfortable with how the REMC operates, as well as getting more members hooked up to broadband internet service.
Buta loves hiking trails in the summer and skiing in the winter. He lives northeast of Fort Wayne.
Please join us in welcoming both Jason and Joseph to the cooperative.
