Where have my meter readings gone on my bill?

Since the early 2000s, Kankakee Valley REMC has used an automated metering infrastructure (AMI). In 2022, we began upgrading to a new generation of these meters, completing the deployment last year.

AMI enables two-way communication between the meter and the KV REMC office. Unlike previous meters, which required manual reading, the new technology automatically collects and transmits real-time data on your electric use. This continuous data provides a detailed and accurate picture of your usage patterns throughout the billing period. It can also break down usage by time intervals, giving members better insight into when they use electricity the most.

As a result of this upgrade, members will no longer see traditional meter readings on their bills. Instead, the new system collects data continuously, eliminating the need for single monthly readings. This change allows us to provide you with more detailed usage information and personalized insights.

Our transition to AMI marks a significant advancement in assessing electric use and being able to offer future rate structures that can help you save money and use energy more efficiently.
