Jerry Applegate is Working for You. This summer, Jerry was promoted to a Foreman from his previous position as a Lineman. Jerry has been with Clark County REMC for 11 ½ years, but has been an experienced lineman since 1997. When asked he stated, “The challenge of the work and storm restoration are what I enjoy most. In my opinion, storm restoration is when a Lineman gets the chance to shine. It feels good knowing you helped make someone’s life a little better.”
Jerry was born in New Albany and raised in Pekin where he and his family currently reside. Jerry and his wife Christina have been married for 18 years and have two beautiful children; Rachel, 15 and Grayson, 11. Before becoming a Lineman, Jerry served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1993-1997.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family, playing golf and serving at his church, Northside. When it comes to sports he likes football the most, rooting for the Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish. When asked what his favorite vacation spot was, Jerry said, “As a family, we really enjoy vacationing in Destin, FL. We have been there a few times and love it.” When it comes to reading, Jerry stated, “I don’t read books, because everything I need to know Tom Hanks can tell me in 2 hours or less.” As you can read, Jerry has a very upbeat personality and enjoys making others laugh.
In 2012, Jerry was selected to travel to Guatemala with 27 other Hoosier lineworkers to construct more than 20 miles of power lines and bring electricity to three villages that included more than 1,000 men, women and children. Reflecting back on this trip Jerry commented, “I felt blessed to be a part of that trip. I am lucky to have gone and I hope someday to take my family on a mission trip there. It is hard to put into words what this trip meant to me but it was an awesome experience.”
Jerry is very dedicated to his job often coming in early to get ready for a day’s work. He takes his job very seriously and strives to serve the members of REMC. He is a valuable employee of our co-op team; and we thank him for his 11 ½ years of service to the co-op.
We hope that you enjoy getting to know the employees of Clark County REMC and remember that Jerry Applegate is Working For You.
