Being a member of a cooperative like Harrison REMC really does mean something more than just the right to buy electricity.
Electric co-ops today are doing much more than providing you with affordable electricity. From providing energy to engaging members in activities and making important decisions, we are fully invested in you and the communities we serve. Below are a few things going on at the REMC.
MEMBER APPRECIATION DAY
Members are the reason cooperatives exist, and this year will mark our eighth Member Appreciation Day. This event has changed since its inception, but the premise remains the same. This is the day that the REMC employees and directors celebrate you — the members of the REMC.
We hope you are able to join us on Sept. 21 at the REMC office. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. and goes to 6:30 p.m. There will be bounce houses for the kids, food for everyone and our big draw — Bingo — begins at 4:30 p.m. I hope to see you there. I enjoy having the opportunity to talk to members!
YOUTH POWER AND HOPE AWARD
MeKinley Elrod was one of the 2015 recipients of the Youth Power and Hope Awards, which is sponsored by Electric Consumer magazine and Indiana Electric Cooperatives. During the month of August, we will support her mission by collecting new toys to be donated to Kosair Children’s Hospital. MeKinley has been very successful in collecting money and toys for the hospital over the years. On page 7, there is more information on how to apply for the Youth Power and Hope Awards program that honors young people who give back to their community.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FOR MEMBERS
I encourage you to check out the programs and services that the REMC offers. This coming fall is a good time to make sure your home appliances are running smoothly and efficiently. The REMC offers rebates for HVAC equipment in addition to attic insulation and duct sealing. If you haven’t signed up for REMC notifications, I encourage you to utilize this service. More information is available below.
Harrison REMC strives to be a member-owned cooperative that gives you the best value of any utility. If we succeed, our community thrives and you will always value being a member — not just a customer.
